Forget the tiny home and take a look at this all-aluminum masterpiece. Offered for sale is a remarkably well preserved 1955 Spartan mobile home trailer. Believed to be the top-tier Executive Mansion model, the trailer measures in at an impressive 47’ of interior length, 8’ width, and an overall length of 50’ including the trailer tongue. Period sales materials list this trailer as weighing an estimated 9400 lbs with nearly 400 square feet of interior volume.
Great lengths have been taken to meticulously preserve this Spartan’s originality. The exterior has undergone hundreds of hours of cleaning and polishing, resulting in a mirror-like finish. The interior has received new flooring but still retains its period-correct appliances, providing the next owner an opportunity to either retain the originals or modernize if they so choose.
The original water heater, stove, and oven are all propane, while the furnace runs on fuel oil. The matching refrigerator is also included with the sale, but currently is removed and disassembled in anticipation of a replacement compressor. Please note that this is a “park model” and does not include tanks for water or septic.
A testament to this trailer’s incredible build quality, the roof shows no signs of leaking in its almost 70-year lifespan. The only known areas of previous interior damage included a wood panel under the front windows – the result of decades of exposure to condensation – and a ceiling panel that was bowed beyond repair from radiant heat. Both areas have been addressed and wood panels replaced.
The trailer has also had a number of maintenance items addressed which should allow it to be easily towed to its new home. Updates include new one-piece wheels (the originals were a split rim design), fresh tires, and working brake lights, tail lights and turn signals. The side marker lights are currently non-functional.
This project has been a multi-year labor of love and resulting in an extraordinarily preserved piece of Americana. It is the seller’s hope that this Spartan Executive Mansion will find a new home where it can be used and enjoyed for many decades to come.
